The Chemical Brothers Biography

UK-based electronic and rave duo The Chemical Brothers got together in 1992 and originally called themselves The Dust Brothers. In 1995, when Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons embarked on an international tour, the original Dust Brothers complained of the duo's use of the name. The duo then adopted a new name, The Chemical Brothers. In July 1995, The Chemical Brothers released their debut album "Exit Planet Dust," which entered the UK charts at the ninth spot and eventually went on to sell over one million copies the world over. Their second album "Dig Your Own Hole" (1997) received rave reviews from critics. The album contained their most successful single "Black Rockin' Beats" which gave The Chemical Brothers a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental. With numerous successful recordings later, the duo has entrenched themselves as a pioneer of the big beat genre.
