Calexico Biography

Although the band took its name from a town in California, Calexico is actually formed by a group of individuals from Arizona. True to its name, the band plays a good mixture of elements of music both from California and from Mexico. Since it formed in 1996, Calexico has been composed of members Joey Burns, John Convertino, Paul Niehaus, Jacob Valenzuela, Martin Wenk, and Volker Zander. When they were able to release their first ever studio recorded album in 1997, a Calexico tour was launched to promote the record. Because of this, the band’s work has been able to reach the Billboard 200 and many other music charts. Certainly, this is because they have been widely accepted by both music fans and critics.
