David Jon Gilmour (David Gilmour’s full name) was born on March 6, 1946 but Success does not come easy to this musical great. He was born in Cambridge, England and studied modern languages, and studied guitar with Syd Barett during lunch time. Before joining Pink Floyd, David Gilmour played in a band named Joker’s Wild in 1963 and left the band in 1966. Gilmour roamed around France and Spain but lived in a hand-to mouth existence. Gilmour has stated that he was treated for malnutrition in a hospital, and in 1967 they stole fuel from a building site in France for them to go back to Enland.
