Hans Last, better known as James Last was born on April 17, 1929 in Bremen, Germany. He is a world-renowned composer and big band leader. He learned to play the piano as a child but ended up with the double bass in his teens. He first became a band leader in 1948. In 1965 he released the “Non-Stop Dancing” album which made him a major European star. James Last went on from there to selling an astonishing 100 million or more albums with more than 190 releases. Strangely, though he is immensely popular across the globe, James Last has only had two hit singles – “The Seduction,” the theme from “American Gigolo” (1980), and “Biscaya” from the album of the same title (1982). Currently, James Last spends time with his family in Florida or in Germany while continuing to keep his millions of fans happy with his trademark danceable big band music.
