Lou Reed Biography
Lou Reed (born 2 March 1942, Brooklyn, New York, USA) who, as a guitarist, pioneered the use of distortion, high volume feedback and nonstandard tunings. He is also quite influential as a singer-songwriter. Lou Reed achieved cult status as the guitarist and principal singer-songwriter (from 1965 – 1970) of the influential rock band The Velvet Underground. He began his solo career in 1971, releasing the hit single “Walk on the Wild Side” and the overlooked self-titled album the following year. By 2024, he had released 20 studio albums including the infamous ‘Metal Machine Music’ (1975) and undertaken Lou Reed tours that had him crisscrossing North America and most of Europe.
