Rush Biography

Canadian rock band Rush was formed in 1968 with original members Jeff Jones, John Rutsey, and Alex Lifeson. Frontman Jones was replaced months later with Geddy Lee. In 1974, Neil Peart came on board to replace Rutsey two weeks before the band embarked on their first Rush tour in the U.S. Their first album ‘Rush’, originally released in 1974 and remastered in 1997, would eventually attain gold status in the U.S. Successive albums would prove to be even more successful; with a string of mostly platinum releases. The band’s individual members are highly regarded for their instrumental virtuosity and are acknowledged as one of the best players of their respective instruments resulting in numerous awards, individual and for the band as a whole.
