Texas Biography

Texas is a rock band that originated in Scotland where it was founded in 1986 by Johnny McElhone of Hipsway and Altered Images. McElhone asked Sharleen Spiteri, Tony McGovern, Alistair Manson McErlaine, Eddie Campbell, Michael Bannister, and Neil Payne to join him in the band. Texas’ first performance was in 1988 where they were asked to play a set at the University of Dundee in Scotland. In their debut album, Southside, it was obvious that Texas was in the musical direction of blues rock combined with elements of blue-eyed soul. However, later on, particularly in their 2005 release “Redbook,” it could be observed that Texas had transformed into a disco pop band. Nevertheless, their loyal fans have continued to patronize their music, their records, hit singles, and live performances to this date.
